Privacy

Ania's Kitchen is our family's recipe collection. There are no accounts for visitors, no comments and no adverts, and we don't sell or share anything about you.

What we collect

Family members who sign in to add recipes have an account (email and password). Visitors are not asked for any personal information.

Visitor statistics

We count visits to this website ourselves, rather than using Google Analytics or any other outside service — the figures never leave our own systems, and this counter sets no cookies. We don’t store your IP address. Instead we turn it into a one-way code (your address, your browser and a secret key, scrambled together) which lets us count returning visits without being able to work out who you are. That key is changed regularly, so any recognition of your browser expires within 30 days at most.

We record which pages were viewed, the site you arrived from, your country and town (from a network header, not from your IP address), the general type of device and browser, and any campaign tag in the link you clicked. Pages viewed close together are grouped into a single visit, which ends after 30 minutes of inactivity. If you send us an enquiry during a visit, we link the two so we can see which sources bring us genuine enquiries. Detailed figures are kept for 90 days; totals are kept indefinitely.

We do this under our legitimate interest in understanding how the website performs, in the least intrusive way we could find. If you’d rather not be counted at all, get in touch and we’ll exclude you.
